Channel 9 highlights need for classroom support
A recent Channel 9 News report highlighted the risks to Victorian students if the government doesn’t improve funding for classroom support.
Parents and teachers know the importance of one-on-one help for students who are struggling to gain basic literacy and numeracy skills.
It’s not good enough that volunteering and fundraising by parents is plugging the gaps in schools – not just for extras, but for basic learning.
Victorian kids are funded at $1881 less than the national average. This lack of funding means students are missing out. And once those kids fall behind, it becomes increasingly difficult for them to ever catch up.
The very least our kids deserve is proper government investment in literacy and numeracy support. We must get our politicians to commit to better funding for public education. Watch the Channel 9 report below:
