“It made a really big difference in my life because, instead of all these kids in the room, making a lot of noise, being distracting, the teacher can just focus on me.”– Bridget, 9 years old
Both Billy and Bridget used to struggle in school. And they’re not alone.
1 in 5 children in Australia have learning difficulties.
With Gonski funding, their school was able to provide them with the support they need, including:
This funding is already making a difference in their lives and the lives of thousands of children around Victoria.
The federal and state governments have not committed to continuing Gonski funding from 2018.
This is a cut of more than $1 billion to Victorian schools over 2018 and 2019.
More importantly, this means children like Billy and Bridget will stop getting the support they need. And other children coming through the system will never have the opportunity to get the education they deserve.
We believe all Victorian children deserve a quality education, no matter where they live, their parents’ education or their ability to learn.
